Together they form a network for the exchange of expertise and research results. The aim is to further strengthen Germany as an AI location and to make German AI research internationally visible.

Data Source

The map on AI covers AI applications that have been developed in Germany. The data is based on research by Plattform Lernende Systeme and its partners. We would like to thank Forum Digital Technologies, Smart Data Forum, Fraunhofer IAIS, DFKI, VDI/VDE-IT, applied AI and the working group Business Model Innovations as well as other members of the Plattform Lernende Systeme for their support in supplying the data for this map. The map makes no claim to completeness. It is continuously expanded by new AI applications, which are submitted via an online questionnaire and curated by the Managing Office of Plattform Lernende Systeme.

Smart Data Forum

The Smart Data Forum is a knowledge, demonstration and networking platform for smart data technologies and actors in Germany. It was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and developed in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is led by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).

Fraunhofer IAIS

Fraunhofer IAIS is one of the leading institutions for applied big data and AI research in Europe. A number of the data sets supplied were compiled for the study Artificial Intelligence in Germany as part of the "Smart Data Forum" project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

DFKI

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) is a public-private partnership for the development of innovative software technologies based on Artificial Intelligence methods and Germany's leading business-related research institution in this field.

VDI/VDE-IT

VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH is an independent service provider that supports public clients in research, innovation and education policy. The activities of VDI/VDE-IT are characterized by their interdisciplinary approach and include technical, economic and social aspects.

applied AI

The appliedAI initiative is part of the non-profit innovation center UnternehmerTUM at TU München. Its focus is on concept development and knowledge exchange on AI topics. The initiative monitors the development of AI startups in Germany and bundles them.

WG 4 of Plattform Lernende Systeme

The working group identifies and analyzes new business models based on Artificial Intelligence as well as the economic potential of Learning Systems. It provides impetus, in particular for the application-oriented working groups.
