AI in Companies: Perspectives on Cultural Change
Impuls Paper
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how work is organized – impacting processes, task distribution, and structures within companies. While fully AI-automated organizations or entirely automated job roles remain out of reach for now, the integration of AI into the workplace is already transforming company culture. We are seeing early signs of this shift in how people communicate and in the rise of AI as a powerful driver of change. Recognizing these shifts and actively shaping them in a way that supports good, meaningful work is essential. To ensure a productive relationship between people and AI, the technology must align with the knowledge, workflows, and experience of employees. At the same time, employees need to build new skills to interact with AI systems effectively so they can use these tools purposefully in their roles and for the benefit of the organization (Rampelt et al., 2025). This impulse paper outlines how AI is influencing cultural change across all levels of the organization, from employees to leadership. It highlights potential shifts and emphasizes the importance of a human-centered approach to AI integration. The aim is to foster reflection on the organizational changes needed and to contribute to a constructive engagement with AI and innovation culture.
